Century Memorial
Benjamin Franklin Lee was likewise born in New York [referring to Alfred Walter, in the previous paragraph], and had been a member of the Century for sixteen years when he died at the age of sixty-eight. Of old colonial stock, he was devoted to the public service, and held many positions of high distinction. A graduate of both Williams and Columbia, he began the practice of law in his twenty-second year, was for certain terms a professor in two law schools of the city, was a member of many other famous and dignified associations as well as of this, and stood in the front ranks of his profession. Within these walls he was held in high esteem as a man and as a comrade.
